IP protection level standard: is a complete set of dustproof, waterproof and anti-collision methods for electronic equipment and packaging to classify products, drafted and published by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC (International Electro Technical Commission).
International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC): IEC was founded in 1906 and has a history of 111 years until 2017. It is the world's oldest international electrical standardization body, specializing in international standardization work in the field of electrical engineering and electronic engineering.
2. The development history of IP protection level standards
The IP protection class of the first edition of the IEC is published in the protection class (IP code) of the outer packaging of IED529 (BS EN 60529:1992); Once published, this set of standards was recognized by most European countries;
Since then, the IEC has updated the standard several times. In 2004, the United States also set this set of standards as a national standard for electronic products and packaging protection levels.
3. Description of the GB GB of the national standard IP protection level
At present, the national standard GB4208-93 IP level protection standard adopted by China is the above-mentioned updated version of the IEC 60529:2001 standard.
4. Description of IP rating standard values
IP protection level is composed of two Arabic numbers, the first number indicates the level of electronic products dustproof and prevent foreign object intrusion, the second number indicates the degree of airtightness of electronic products against moisture and waterproof intrusion, the higher the number indicates the higher its protection level.
